Find a doctorThe Atrium Health Floyd Medical Center Family Medicine Residency program is the second oldest family medicine program in Georgia and one of the first programs in Georgia to receive ACGME Osteopathic Recognition.
We are an unopposed family medicine residency at a community-based hospital. Our three-year fully accredited program provides everything from prenatal to geriatric services.

Our learning environment
Our active hospital inpatient service provides treatment for patients from admission to discharge, including a full ICU. We offer many opportunities for our residents to perform a variety of inpatient and outpatient procedures.

More learning opportunities
Clerkships
Our students master a variety of patient situations through hands-on experience and on-call opportunities at least once per week.
Student rotation
Students enjoy the opportunity to study health care professionals as they work in a health care environment while under the supervision of an instructor from an accredited university or college.
Preceptorship
Preceptorships provide students with 60 to 360 hours of school credit working under specially trained professional supervision to help students gain expertise and confidence in their clinical skills.
Shadowing
Observation experiences are offered for career exploration, or as required hours for medical school applications. Volunteering or entry level jobs are also options for required application hours.
Allied health
Allied health student placement programs develop practical skills that enhance future health care careers and bridge the gap between formal education and practical work experience.
Nursing students
Nursing student programs consist of licensed practical nurse (LPN), pre-licensure (ADN, BSN), paramedic/EMT/LPN to RN bridge, graduate nursing (MSN and DNP).
High school
Our internship program helps students learn more about the health care field, gain hands-on experience, and broaden their exposure to different career options.
