Visitation hours and guidelines
During cold and flu season, we’re committed to preventing the spread of infection to our most vulnerable patients. Visitors are welcome with restrictions at some of our locations.
Locations with restrictions include:
- Hospitals
- Emergency departments
- Rehabilitation units and facilities
- Skilled nursing facilities
- Behavioral health locations
- Inpatient hospice
- Infusion centers
- Certain cancer areas including bone marrow transplant clinics
Restrictions:
- Visitors with respiratory symptoms should not visit the locations listed above.
- Children 12 and under should not visit the locations listed above, except healthy siblings visiting newborns in labor and delivery with a caregiver.
- As an exception, children may visit skilled nursing facilities. Other exceptions to visitor restrictions may be made in special cases if the child is symptom-free and receives approval from the care team.
- We ask that visitors at these locations wear masks in areas where direct patient care is provided and in waiting areas.
Masking information
Masks are optional for patients, visitors and care teams with the following exceptions:
- To help protect our most vulnerable patients, we ask that visitors wear masks in all locations with restrictions listed above, including direct patient care areas, waiting areas and areas with posted signage.
- Patients with respiratory symptoms should wear masks when outside their rooms.
- People should wear masks in high-risk patient areas as indicated by signage.
- Patients may ask providers, care teams and anyone who works for Atrium Health Floyd and Harbin Clinic to wear a mask during their visit.
Masks are available at our location entrances.
Parking and shuttle service
Patients and visitors should allow extra time to reach Atrium Health Floyd Medical Center due to road construction and closures.
This road work may affect Shorter Avenue, Turner McCall Boulevard, North Second Avenue and Martha Berry Boulevard near the hospital.
Shuttles are available to take patients and visitors from their vehicles in the Main Entrance parking lot to the hospital. If you need a shuttle, call Atrium Health Floyd security at 706-509-5150.
Hours and guidelines by location
- Children 12 and under and anyone with respiratory symptoms should not visit.
- We ask that visitors wear masks in areas where direct patient care is provided and in emergency room waiting areas.

Visiting hours are daily from 8 a.m.-8 p.m.
- If a patient is admitted after visiting hours, one visitor may stay overnight.
- We may ask visitors to wait in a waiting area during certain in-room medical procedures.
- Special circumstances will be managed by the treating provider and nursing unit leadership.
- Children 12 and under and anyone with respiratory symptoms should not visit.
- We ask that a mask be worn in lobbies, waiting areas and where direct patient care is provided.

Visiting hours are 24/7.
- Patients may have one visitor at a time.
- The on-site manager may restrict visitation if patient or visitor volumes rise.
- Visitors are not allowed in the room if the patient is receiving an aerosolizing procedure or some other medical procedures.
- Children 12 and under and anyone with respiratory symptoms should not visit, except healthy siblings visiting newborns in labor and delivery.
- Healthy children under 12 must stay with a caregiver and cannot visit other patient care areas.
- We ask that a mask be worn in lobbies, waiting areas and where direct patient care is provided.

Visiting hours are daily from 8 a.m.-9 p.m.
- The patient’s children may visit during visiting hours.
- Up to three people may be at the bedside during labor and delivery.
- After delivery, the patient may have up to four visitors at a time.
- One visitor over the age of 18 may stay overnight. If that person is the patient’s partner, they may stay overnight regardless of age.
- Doulas and labor coaches who are part of the patient's birthing plan are not considered visitors.
- We may ask visitors to wait in a waiting area during certain in-room medical procedures.
- Special circumstances will be managed by the treating provider and nursing unit leadership.
- Children 12 and under and anyone with respiratory symptoms should not visit.
- We ask that a mask be worn in lobbies, waiting areas and where direct patient care is provided.

Visiting hours are 24/7.
- Visitors must check in at the ICU information desk in the waiting area to receive a visitor identification badge.
- Two visitors are allowed at a time.
- Children must be accompanied by an adult at all times and should not sit or crawl on the floor or touch equipment.
- All visitors should be free of cold, flu or other illness symptoms.
- We may ask visitors to return to the waiting area if the patient needs rest or has a bedside procedure or emergency.
- Visitors who are disruptive to the patient or medical team will be asked to leave the patient’s room.
- No food is allowed in the patient area. Flowers, plants and pets are not allowed in the patient area or waiting room.
- To protect patient privacy and streamline communication, we ask the family to appoint a contact person to receive updates. The point of contact will provide a password that must be used to receive information by phone.
- Children 12 and under and anyone with respiratory symptoms should not visit.
- We ask that a mask be worn in lobbies, waiting areas and where direct patient care is provided.

Visiting hours are daily from 8 a.m.-8 p.m.
- Pediatric patients in the hospital may have up to four visitors during visiting hours. Two parents or guardians may stay overnight.
- In the NICU, we allow two visitors at a time. Two adult visitors are permitted at the bedside at any time of day. Please follow the medical team’s guidance about social distancing and handwashing.
- Children 12 and under and anyone with respiratory symptoms should not visit.
- We ask that a mask be worn in lobbies, waiting areas and where direct patient care is provided.

Visiting hours are 24/7.
- Adult patients can have two visitors in preoperative and postoperative care.
- Pediatric patients are allowed two parents or guardians in preoperative and postoperative care.
- If a patient is admitted after surgery, hospital visitation guidelines apply.
