Public Invited to Celebrate Stand-alone Emergency Department in Trion

ROME, Ga., Oct. 6, 2023 – Atrium Health Floyd is inviting the public to a celebration of the stand-alone emergency department that is nearing completion in Chattooga County.

The community event will take place on Sunday, Oct. 22, at 2 p.m. at the facility, 13583 U.S. 27, in Trion next to Walmart. Tours of the facility will be given after the official ribbon-cutting.

Health screenings and door prizes will also be available during the celebration.

The $18.4 million emergency department, which will open this fall, will serve residents in Chattooga County and portions of Walker County and northeast Alabama. The facility features six treatment rooms, an onsite laboratory and imaging services, including X-ray and a computed tomography (CT) scanner.

A helipad there will provide quick access to Atrium Health Floyd Medical Center, the only Level II Trauma Center in northwest Georgia.

Atrium Health Floyd's second Mobile Mammography Coach will eventually be headquartered at the 10,884-square-foot facility to ensure more women have convenient access to lifesaving breast cancer screenings.
