What are mental health support groups?
Support groups are meetings where people facing similar problems can connect and support each other. A facilitator typically leads the meeting, offering prompts, direction and structure. Many people with mental health conditions benefit from the social connection support groups provide.
Usually, participants share and discuss their experiences with the entire group. This model allows you to get support, encouragement and advice from others. You’re never obligated to share if you prefer not to.

Types of mental health support groups
We offer two types of mental health support groups:
- Alcoholics Anonymous/Narcotics Anonymous (AA/NA): This weekly meeting supports anyone who wants to recover from addiction. Attendees share their experiences and encourage one another. The only requirement for participation is a desire to stop drinking or to pursue and maintain a drug-free lifestyle.
- Wellness Recovery Action Plan (WRAP) group: WRAP is a nine-week series to help you make positive changes in your life. People use WRAP to deal with many situations, such as medical conditions, mental health challenges, substance misuse or grief. In WRAP, there are no limits to recovery and wellness.
