Rehabilitation programs
Atrium Health Floyd and Harbin Clinic offers a full range of rehabilitation programs to meet your needs. Each is staffed by skilled and experienced therapists with program expertise.
Our team of cardiologists, nurses and physical therapists works with you to develop a personalized cardiac rehabilitation plan. We help you carefully increase your exertion level as you recover from a heart attack, heart surgery or treatment for heart failure. The team monitors your activities as you recover to ensure continued progress.
Cancer treatment can impact your strength and energy levels and cause uncomfortable side effects. Our cancer rehabilitation experts help you regain strength and manage pain or discomfort, keeping you as independent as possible. We provide therapy in a fully equipped gym or in a smaller setting to suit your comfort levels.
Problems with balance and dizziness can affect your ability to walk, stand and even sit comfortably. Balance disorders also increase your risk of falling, which can lead to more serious health issues. To keep you active and healthy, our team of balance rehabilitation specialists works with you to improve your balance and decrease your fall risk.
If you are recovering from an accident or surgery, or if you have arthritis, nerve disorders or other issues, we can help. Our certified hand therapy specialists have expertise in therapies that improve mobility in your hands and arms. They work closely with your hand surgeon to help you get back to your normal activities as quickly as possible.
Our team of specially trained therapists can help make the transition to limb loss easier. We provide strength and cardiovascular training to improve your strength, balance and motor skills. If you need a prosthesis, we make sure you are prepared and properly fitted. Our goal is to help you safely return to your normal daily activities.
You’ll receive a personalized neurological rehabilitation plan from a team of speech and language pathologists, occupational therapists, physical therapists and rehabilitation nurses. We aim to help you recover and live as independently as possible with Parkinson’s disease or after a stroke or treatment for another neurological condition.
After orthopedic surgery, we help you resume your normal activities as quickly as possible. Our team provides a full range of comprehensive orthopedic physical therapy services to help you recover. You’ll receive an individualized treatment plan so you can get back to doing the things you love.
Pelvic floor physical therapy targets muscles in your pelvis to help restore function and alleviate pain. This therapy addresses issues such as pelvic or lower back pain, stress urinary incontinence, other pelvic floor disorders and back pain during pregnancy.
Our outpatient pulmonary rehab program supports people with respiratory diseases such as chronic obstructive pulmonary disease (COPD), cystic fibrosis, chronic bronchitis and emphysema. We help you control symptoms, regain endurance and confidence, and improve your ability to perform daily activities. This program is offered in our outpatient clinic at Polk Medical Center.
We offer the only program in our region with on-site physical therapy clinics and athletic trainers to help manage sports-related injuries. We care for injured athletes admitted through our Emergency Care Center (ECC) or an Atrium Health Floyd urgent care center. Our team is skilled and experienced in helping athletes recover from injuries such as joint injuries, ligament and tendon tears and concussions.
The vestibular system includes parts of the inner ear and brain that affect your balance and eye movement. Vestibular rehabilitation alleviates problems caused by vestibular disorders. Our exercise-based program helps reduce vertigo and dizziness, gaze instability and/or imbalance and falls.
