Pediatric virtual primary care

When life is busy, convenient access to care matters. With pediatric virtual primary care, your child will see the same trusted Atrium Health pediatrician for every visit – available 7 days a week from 8 a.m. to 8 p.m. Whether it’s a checkup, illness or chronic condition, you’ll get consistent, high-quality care that works for your child – virtually, from anywhere.*

Start by scheduling your first appointment with a virtual pediatrician online.

*Patients must be in Georgia, North Carolina or South Carolina at the time of their visit.

The convenience of an online pediatrician, with care you trust

With pediatric virtual primary care, your child gets the same expert care as an in-person visit – just through video visits that work around your schedule. You can skip the commute and schedule your child’s appointment whenever it works for you.

After your first video visit, you’ll have an established virtual pediatrician for all your child’s primary care needs, including help coordinating in-person care, if needed. And because your virtual pediatrician is part of Atrium Health, you’ll have access to the quality, award-winning care you’d expect – with the added flexibility of virtual care.

Why use pediatric virtual primary care?

  • Scheduled video visits available 8 a.m-8 p.m., including weekends
  • Care for ages 0-17
  • Board-certified pediatric providers
  • Coordinated access to top Atrium Health pediatric specialists and hospitals, if needed
  • Insurance accepted, no extra fees

Whether your child is under the weather or you have a question about their development, your virtual pediatrician is here for you. Available services include:

  • Well visits, with coordination of in-person care
  • Sick visits for colds, rashes, sprains and other nonurgent symptoms
  • Educational visits for parenting support, newborn care, nutrition and sleep hygiene
  • Behavioral and mental health visits, including depression and anxiety
  • Management of chronic conditions such as ADHD, post-concussion syndrome and asthma
  • eVisit messaging for minor conditions, with a response within 24 hours

How do online pediatrician appointments work?

Once you select your child’s pediatric virtual primary care provider and schedule their first appointment, here’s what you can expect.

Step 1: Before your visit

Because all visits are online via secure video connection, you don’t need to worry about commuting to the doctor’s office or sitting in a waiting room with your child. Instead, just log in to MyAtriumHealth by smartphone, tablet or computer a few minutes before your visit and make sure your child is present with you on video.

For the best experience, ensure you have a strong internet connection and your device’s camera, microphone and speakers are working as they should. You might also need your insurance card and a form of photo identification.

Step 2: During your visit

Each visit is customized to your child’s unique needs. Depending on the reason for their visit, your child’s virtual provider may ask how your child is feeling, explain recent labs and testing, and examine physical symptoms.

Step 3: After your visit

At the end of your visit, your pediatric provider will review the next steps for your child’s care. They’ll also coordinate follow-up visits if needed.

For people 18 or older, appointments can be scheduled directly with a virtual family medicine provider.

If you're physically located in Georgia, North Carolina or South Carolina at the time of your child’s visit, you can have an online pediatric appointment.

All visits are with your virtual pediatrician and your care team, so you’ll always see a familiar face.

Unlike other types of pediatric telehealth visits we offer – where you connect with a telemedicine doctor or advanced practice professional for sick visits or one-time medical needs – you’re establishing ongoing care for your child with a virtual pediatrician. Your child’s pediatric virtual primary care provider is your first point of contact for a much broader range of services.

The costs, fees and insurance coverage of pediatric virtual primary care are the same as traditional, in-person pediatric care. Check with your health insurance provider for specific details on what your plan covers.

Most conditions can be managed over video, but sometimes in-person visits are still needed. This can include lab work, vaccines, diagnostic testing and screenings. Children will also need to be seen in person for conditions like ear infections.

When in-person care is needed, we’ll partner with a nearby Atrium Health location to coordinate your child’s care. If more specialized services are needed, we’ll seamlessly refer you to the best specialists and hospitals in the region.

Yes, Atrium Health uses a patented system to make sure every video visit is HIPAA compliant, secure and confidential.

All you need is a strong internet connection and smartphone, tablet or computer with a microphone and camera. You might also need your insurance card and a form of photo identification.

You'll also need a MyAtriumHealth account. This is our free and secure patient portal, where you’ll have video visits and communicate with your doctor.
