- Management of chronic diseases like diabetes and high blood pressure
- Mental health services
- Sick visits, including for colds, rashes and sprains
- eVisit secure messaging for minor conditions without an appointment
- Medicare annual wellness visits
Coordination of in-person care when needed
Most conditions can be managed over video, but sometimes in-person visits are still needed. This can include annual physicals, lab work, diagnostic testing and screenings. Children will need to be seen in person for conditions like ear infections.
When in-person care is needed, we’ll help you find an Atrium Health Floyd and Harbin Clinic facility or provider nearby. If more specialized services are needed, we’ll assist in connecting you to some of the best specialists and hospitals in the region.
How virtual primary care appointments work
Virtual primary care is health care made easy. Once you pick a virtual primary care online doctor and schedule your first appointment, here’s what to expect:
Before your visit
15 minutes before your visit, choose a private, well-lit space where you can talk openly. Log in to MyAtriumHealth by smartphone, tablet or computer and place your device on a stable surface so your face is visible. Do not join the visit while driving.
During your visit
Whether you’re managing a chronic condition, seeking care for something new or just trying to stay healthy, each visit is customized for your unique needs. Depending on the reason for your visit, your provider may ask how you're feeling, explain recent labs and testing, and examine certain physical symptoms
After your visit
At the end of your visit, your provider will go over next steps for your care. They’ll also begin coordinating any follow-up visits if needed.
For the best experience at your virtual primary care appointment, make sure you have a strong internet connection and your device’s camera, microphone and speakers are working. You also might need your health insurance card and a form of photo ID. For added privacy, consider using headphones.
Frequently asked questions about virtual primary care
Many types of virtual care – including urgent care video visits – are just for sick visits or one-time medical needs. However, virtual primary care offers a much broader range of online services. This includes sick visits, as well as preventive medicine, care for chronic diseases and more.
With virtual primary care, you get the same type of care as in a doctor’s office, but it all takes place online.
Appointments are required and can be made easily online, 7 days a week. Family medicine providers are available 6 a.m.-11 p.m., and pediatric providers are available from 8 a.m.-8 p.m.
It helps to be prepared before your video visit. Have these items ready in case your provider asks for them:
- Photo ID, insurance card and preferred pharmacy
- List of medications, supplements or vitamins you take, including dosage
- Recent vitals, if available, such as blood pressure, blood sugar, weight, temperature, heart rate and oxygen levels
- Details about your symptoms, including when they started, what helps or worsens them, and photos, if applicable
If you have a caregiver, consider including them in your video visit.
To have a video visit, you'll need a strong internet connection and smartphone, tablet or computer with a microphone and camera. You'll also need a MyAtriumHealth account. This is our free and secure patient portal, where you’ll have video visits and communicate with your online doctor.
We understand unexpected issues can come up. If you need to cancel or reschedule your appointment, please contact us at least 2 hours before your visit. If you haven’t joined your visit by your appointment time, we may not be able to complete the visit.
To cancel or reschedule, use MyAtriumHealth or call us at 855-799-0044.
